Happy 13th Anniversary Mom and John =)

BrainQuest: J

pgs. 18-20 - money; proper nouns; wildlife; subtraction; weather; Spanish; number sequences; proper sentence structure; elementary biology. Did awesome, got everything right today!

Also asked what was the nation's capital. J didn't know, but I don't remember ever discussing it with him before, so we talked about it for a little and the things you can find in that city.

Also asked about what princess fell asleep by eating an apple, but I have three sons, so sorry, no princess movies in this house. I couldn't even remember myself if it was Snow White or Sleeping Beauty!

FIAR: J & P

Read Madeline by Ludwig Bemelmans

Literary devices - Poetry & Repetition

Talked about poetry and how Madeline is written with rhyme and rhythm through the whole story. Talked about how it makes it a fun book to read and unifies the story.

Talked about the 2 parts of the book that use repetition and how it ties the beginning and end of the book together. Talked about how it can create excitement, as the first time one of them was used (something is not right!) something exciting happened afterwards. Also explained how the other repetition (broke bread, brushed teeth, went to bed) describe patterns and rituals that people use in their daily routine and how that can make life easier. Talked about what routines we have in our home life.

Vocabulary - learned 3 new words - appendix; solemn; disaster

Math: J
