September 16, 2008

Shopped in the morning, so had J skip nap and did school with just him in the afternoon.

FIAR - Read The Story about Ping

Literature: Explained what a classic story is, and what the word generation means (in terms of family). Explained what fiction means. Discussed the use of repetition in the book and how that helps remember things.

Math: Ping - We counted all the members of Ping's family

Math workbook - pages 12 and 13 - writing number words (a little trouble but did well); lesser than and greater than (without symbols)

WAK Flashcards - 24-31 - larger & smaller; adding money; identifying shapes; fractions (with pizza); identifying highest numbers; figuring answers from clues given

Money - Had J figure out how to make certain figures. Did well with $2.67, not so good with $1.98 - trying to go a little too fast, I think. Backed up and learned about quartes and how many make a dollar and what groups of quarters equal how much (1 = 25, 2 = 50, etc). Then asked to figure out 0.89 and he did really well.

Reading: Read lots of Aesop's Fables today on his own, also read Chapter 30 of LPP.
