FIAR: J & P

Language Day

Character - Katy - Burton uses pictures off to the side of the story to tell us more about Katy than can be learned in the story. After book was done, asked J & P what they remembered from those things. Did well! But asked if we could try again and do even better tomorrow.

Personification - Discussed what human qualities Burton gave to Katy.

Vocabulary words - bulldozer, steam roller, drizzle, water main, emergency, three alarm fire, patient. J knew and was able to explain all but water main and three alarm fire. Described patient as in the human trait rather than doctor/patient. Told him one word can mean more than one thing. He said that was weird, why not use another word? I said, "Cos English is weird. A lot of the time, it just doesn't make sense."
