Art - Colors - use of colors causes Katy to pop out of the page.
Detailed Action - Burton shows action in the trucks and people of Geoppolis - looked through book for examples. Before Katy even comes by, you see the little stick figure townspeople digging themselves out. Then after she plows, you see the various vehicles she has dug out going to the places they need to go.
Detailed Descriptions - Discussed the "extra story" in the little pics around the big ones - fun little details around the main story make the book even better. There's so much more to learn than what is mainly going on.
Science - Weather - weather changes from year to year - snow storms only come every so often around here - some years are flood years, some drought. Explained what a drought is. Talked about possibly making a weather chart.
