Happy Birthday to Jenn, one of my very favorites!
FIAR - J
Language Day
Choosing a Title - explained that people don't just choose titles for stories, books, pictures, etc. carelessly. They want to use a title that will capture someone into reading. Just like J was very excited before ever having even read The Glorious Flight because it sounded exciting without even knowing what it was about. Asked J to come up with some other good interesting titles for the book. Came up with some good creative stuff!
Descriptive Writing - In the book, the author describes the English Channel in great detail so the reader can almost know what it looks like without ever having seen it. Asked J to describe a strawberry in the same way, and then to describe Spongebob Squarepants. Guess which one he did with very extreme detail???? ; )
Poetic Device - Onomatopoeia - asked J if he remembered this term from Cranberry Thanksgiving. He remembered the word for sure, but couldn't remember what it meant until I started giving him examples. Knew what words in the new story were the words in question =)
