pgs 11-14 - adding; finding verbs; rhyming; contractions; seasons; money; question marks; clocks; nursery rhymes
Calendar:
Went over months of the year - he only missed 2! Not bad considering we've only gone over it about 4 times =)
FIAR: J & P
Read WOTS?
Language Arts - List Making - FIAR workbook suggested making lists of all Big Jim's qualities and making a list of things that are too wonderful to own that are not mentioned in the book. Jesse thought this was WAY fun! He even asked if we could also make a list of the little boy's qualities as well as Big Jim's. After listing 6 things on each list, I put them in the book and said we could add on as the week goes along.
LA - Vocabulary discussed definitions of the words: squint; windmill; wander and continue. The only one J didn't already know was wander. Will start a vocabulary list (maybe on index cards, like flashcards?) to review.
Elements of story - climax and denouement - talked about the end of the story and how it would leave you feeling differently if the story had ended a page earlier.
LA - Flashback - talked about how this story and 'A Pair of Red Clogs' were both told in flashback and the advantages of telling the story this way. A sad story can turn out happy; you can see how a person has changed over time; etc.
Music: J & P
Read last chapter of Beatles book - Ch 11 - The Saddest Day. Will do some further discussion of the music and people without the aid of any weird slanted books. Skipped a lot of stupid political stuff in this one.
Math: J
SSM Workbook - pg 47 - fractions, identifying shapes split into equal parts. Breezed through it!
Writing: J
