Good day again! But a loooooong one.

FIAR: J & P

Science - Weather and weather forecasting

Discussed "what is weather?". Gave definition then just did some general talking about how weather works, etc. Talked about favorite kinds of weather and about the 4 seasons and how weather changes from one to the other. This gave me a good segway into discussing the months of the year again.

Also discussed "how do people predict weather?" - Talked about meteorologists and some of the tools they use, but stated they are not infallible, God has the final say on what the weather is today!

Music: J & P

Beatles book - ch 8 - Road-Weary. This book is definitely written from a leftist perspective. I'm leaving lots of things out!

Brain Quest: J

pgs 8-10 - rhyming; number sequence; proper grammar; wildlife identification; nursery rhymes; calendar. Did good with most questions, but had trouble with one grammar question and with one math question. Also was asked: "The moon gives off it's own light - T/F?" - again, How is this 1st grade level!?!? He answered true, but I corrected him and gave a demonstration to show why we only see certain phases of the moon at certain times. He thought that was pretty fun.

Math: J

SSM Workbook - pgs 40-42 - advanced patterns; labeling patterns; addition, subtraction; writing out number sentences when given word problems

Writing: J

Gave him 4 words to practice writing every day for the week (sun, top, cat, pray) and told him he's getting tested on Friday, he has to be able to write them all on his own! His writing is really improving.

Reading: P

Lesson 2 of 100 EL - Did great! He really struggled at first with sounding out words slowly, but he improved tremendously as the lesson went on and was able to do it perfectly by the end, which is what we had such trouble with in August. Hooray!

Recreation: J, P & C

Played with Legos and Play-Doh for most of the spare morning time - FUN! - Planned an outdoor play date with the neighbors soon =)
