BrainQuest: spelling; subtraction; geography; sound association; counting; directions; clocks; grammar; wildlife

Didn't do as well as yesterday but still did really well. I'm surprised at the amount of Disney questions there are on here. Am I supposed to be teaching my kid to be a TV zombie?

FIAR: J & P

Read Madeline by Ludwig Bemelmans

Grouping and dividing - got out 12 blocks and lined them up in 2 groups of six just like the girls in the book. Asked, "What if Miss Clavell divided the girls by twos, how many groups would you have?" Did the same with groups of 3, 4 and 6. J thought that was so fun!

Size - Madeline was the smallest of the 12 girls. Had J group his blocks into largest, medium and smallest.

Symmetry - Also used 12 blocks (2 of each shape) and lined them up in different ways and had J tell me which patterns were symmetrical and which were not. Went back through the book and picked out all the symmetrical drawings and discussed how that was another way the author showed order and routine in his story.

Coloring: J

J colored his October page today, nearly the entire thing!!! His coloring skills improved (what seemed like) infinitely and he was very proud at the huge fuss I made, it had him in a good mood for hours. Don't know if that's good or bad!

Writing: J

Wrote spelling words 4 times each. Went much faster today than yesterday because of his improved mood.

Reading: P

Completed lesson 10 of 100EL

Math? Architecture?: J, P & C

Did lots of awesome building with blocks today. Great stuff!
