FIAR: J, P and a little C
Read HTMAAPASTW - they just ADORE this book - it is really fun!
Defined hospitality and then discussed - she invites her friends over to share her apple pie. Why is hospitality important?? Romans 12: 13b - Seek to show hospitality - God says it, that settles it!
Also talked about all the countries that are mentioned in the book - what do they all have in common?? They are ruled by God!
Psalm 113:4 "The LORD is high above all nations, and His glory is above the heavens!"
Genesis 1:1 "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth."
Colossians 1:16 "For by Him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities - all things were created through Him and for Him."
Asked Jesse how those verses made him feel. Replied: "GREAT!" Discussed trusting God no matter what happens. No matter who thinks they are in control, it is really God, and God always does what's best for us.
Math - Talked about the girl in the story dividing the apples up between her, the cow and the chicken and saving the rest for the pie. Subtraction; division.
Measuring! - Got out all the ingredients talked about i the book (the recipe is on the last page) and made a pie together! J & P measured out the flour, salt and butter and I rolled it out. Then Then P measured out sugar and salt and C measured out cinnamon! what an adventure!! Then J, P & C all coated the apples in the cinnamon mix and put them in the pie. I rolled out the top and then J brushed egg yolk and water on top of top crust to glaze it. Put it in the oven and it looks and smells great! J is so excited to eat it later, they all had so much fun helping out =)
